About Erik Kristensen

Erik Kristensen is a founding partner of Kristensen Law Group P.C., a law firm devoted exclusively to the practice of matrimonial and family law, serving the New York metropolitan area, and located in White Plains, New York. Mr. Kristensen’s comprehensive practice includes litigating matters from commencement through trial, appeals, settlement through negotiation, prenuptial/postnuptial agreements and post-judgment matters.

Mr. Kristensen is a recognized leader in his field, receiving numerous peer-reviewed awards, holding leadership positions in the family law sections of New York State Bar Association Family Law Section and Westchester County Bar Association, teaching and authoring materials for accredited continuing legal education courses taught to attorneys and the judiciary, and advising on pending legislation in the family law field. 

Mr. Kristensen is the Chair of the Westchester County Bar Association Domestic Relations/Family Law Section. He has served as an Executive Committee member of that section and officer since 2012. Mr. Kristensen has been a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association Family Law Section since 2016, and Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee of the Family Law Section from 2019 to the present. As Co-Chair, he drafts proposed opinions for the Executive Committee on the impact of pending laws in the NYS Legislature in the field of matrimonial and family law.

Mr. Kristensen has prevailed on behalf of his clients on numerous appeals to the Appellate Division, Second Department, in family law matters. He has also lectured extensively for the New York State Bar Association, Family Law Section, and the Westchester County Bar Association, Domestic Relations/Family Law Section, on trial and pre-trial practice, complex tax, business valuation, financial matters, and practice management in the area of family law. Mr. Kristensen graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 1996 and was admitted to the New York Bar in 1997. Commencing in 2000, he limited his practice exclusively to matrimonial and family law matters. He has represented clients in the five counties of the City of New York, and in Westchester, Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, Putnam, and Ulster counties.
